I have a pc with a realtek HD sound card thing, and I have a turtle beach x-07 headset. The headset has a combo mic/headphone cable but my pc has 2 ports, one for a mic and one for the headphones. I bought a splitter:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JP0TX5E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

But it still wont work, it just echos. When a notification on my pc comes up it just repeats, like when you have two phones then call someone next to you and put the phones together. It goes high pitched and horrible.

PLEASE HELP!!!

this headset is designed for xbox one, and so it has mic and audio in one, 3 ring jack. The splitter wont do anything, it'll just mess around. You gotta get a different headset, or you can just use the mic or just use the headset, not both

No, a TRRS to two TRS splitter will work just fine. Just make sure to use the rear line-in for mic just in case. Here's an example: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/945088-REG/startech_muyhsfmm_headset_adapter_m_m.html

So if a splitter is the way to go, will the one I linked work?

no, it needs to be like the one he said: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/945088-REG/startech_muyhsfmm_headset_adapter_m_m.html

Cheaping out on it can save money, but bying a good quality one usually saves more money as you have to buy once, then again because it's no good as you didn't spend enough
