What's the name of that thing between keyboads and screen?

What's the name of that thing between keyboads and screen? (on laptops)
So all NEW laptops come with it?
I vouth a laptop and it didn't come with it, does that mean that it's an used unit?

on a new laptop on top of the keyboard most times is a locking plastic to hold the keyboard down..dome of them have the on/off switch built into the plastic bezel.

Oh, you're talking about a protective sheet sandwiched between the screen and keyboard/palmrest, put there before shipping when it is new. And you remove it when you open the laptop for the first time, right?

Not sure if they ALL come with it. 2 of my last 3 laptops did, but one didn't.
