My OS win8.1.
Laptop is an Asus x555l 64 nvidia 820m and never had a single problem before. But since a couple of weeks mouse and touchpad started to go crazy. When click the left button of mouse or touchpad, it operates as scroll button sometimes. And scroll but automatically get pressed even when the mouse is unplugged. Now the problem is getting worse and happens more often. What might be the problem ?
I checked mouse from control panel and it displays as mouse works properly. Someone please help me to identify the problem.

I tried a system restore a couple of days back. It only restored for a three weeks earlier version which was earliest version available. It didn't solve the problem.
Some more information about the problem is, sometimes non of the mouse buttons work, but cursor moves and respond to when hovers on webpage buttons. But mouse buttons work when click on tabs in task bar, but mouse buttons don't work when click on links of a web page or close, minimize buttons of a window. Sometimes it is vice versa.
And when I hit the mouse hard on desk, it starts to work normal again. So on that information it feels like a mouse problem. But the problem also happens with touchpad even when the mouse is unplugged. So it cannot be a mouse problem. I tried different usb ports to plug in mouse. It also didn't solve the problem.

I just uninstalled mouse, usb and then restarted, and again uninstalled touch pad and restarted. But still have the problem.
Could this be a hardware problem?

I tried safemode after you said, and same problem happened with mouse, but no problem with touchpad. So I repaired my wire broken old mouse and tried it. With it I got the problem almost solved. Only problem I have with it is its scroll button scrolls, but scroll button clicks doesn't work.
I think I had a faulty mouse and it interfered with touchpad. I didn't know even when the mouse was unplugged it could have still intefered with touchpad system somehow for something it has done while it was plugged in.

Thank you very much for your support and and I'm choosing you are as the answer as the solution to my question for the support you gave me.
