Hello all,

For many of my past issues I have looked to this forum, in which helpful and sound advice has generally followed to users queries.

This time it's me with the thread, as i'm currently stumped, hopefully you can shed some light on this for me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issue:
I noticed recently in any games I play (eg. CSGO) I'm getting 20-50 fps, whereas I used to get a solid 230ish. Other games also performed very well.

Steps:
I thought perhaps my CPU is overheating, or under heavy load. Checked all my components load/temp and they were all good.

So I ran a virus scan (MalwareBytes) and detected a Trojan + AdWare. Deleted those and tried CSGO again, same issue.

Next Day: Turn on the computer, I ran another scan again, found some more Malware. After removing this I checked msconfig to see if any Malware is perhaps starting on boot, nothing unusual. Checked regedit to see if anything is running there also, nothing unusual.

Next Day: Run Safe mode with Networking and run ESET scanner, which detects multiple malware. Remove them all and restart the computer, try CSGO and issue perists.

Re-installed Windows with the CD etc, transferring my files and data. Re-install drivers for graphics card. Open CSGO, same issue.

COMPUTER SPECS:
CPU: Intel i3-4150 CPU @ 3.50GHz
RAM: Corsair 8gb
GPU: GTX 750Ti

If you need any additional information i'm happy to provide, part of me is wondering if the Malware is the issue anymore. I don't know if it corrupted something to make my performance lower, unless the Malware IS still there.

Many thanks

Also, I found nothing dodgy in processes/services running.

I have done many scans, a lot of which came up empty. I cannot tell if damage has been done to the registry or what, I thought re installing Windows would fix it honestly.

My FPS is not fixed, it can be at 100 on main menu for example, doing simple tasks.
I have checked for a cap regardless.

I don't know, I just went through the Windows install. Nothing prior to inserting the disk.

well your being your own worst nightmare not formatting the disk and starting a fresh is the only way or you could have a go with http://www.bitdefender.com/Downloads/ I have eset myself for many years but bit-defender I think is better now and will move when licence expires

Sorry for my lack of experience with this, but what exactly will formatting my drive to to help my issue? Is there a certain way I format as well? never done this so any advice is appreciated

When you format a disk it will wipe it to a a state where it is empty. What you have done is moved all of the old infected files into a file where they may have spread onto the new partition.

To format through the windows installer when you come up to menu asking to pick which drive to install to their should be a button called drive option. Once you see this button highlight the selected drive and then click format. You may then re-install normally.

Ok so I currently have the window "Install Windows" open.
Showing partition 1: System reserved 100mb
Partition 2: 931 GB type primary.

I cannot format either of these due to "the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed onto GPT disks"

Advice?

I deleted the partitions and selected new, which created an MSR partition and primary. Then I formatted the primary, currently going through setup now which will be awhile.

Best make some tea I think. I'll let you know how I get on. Many Thanks for fast responses. Great support
