In your opinion what is the best way to protect your pc from virus's. I would prefer if the program was less than 80$.

best practices for securing your pc = https://kb.iu.edu/d/akln

best resource for choosing an av from a trusted source = http://www.av-comparatives.org/comparatives-reviews/

they break down the av tests into different categories like detection rate and performace tests so "the best" is based on what you value the most, or a combination of factors.

My current favorite this year is F-secure, and you can often find one for multiple pc's on amazon for a great discount! https://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_global/anti-virus

If you are in the USA and on windows 10 I would not recommend Kaspersky, due to the fact that the certificate they install for your browser is not trusted(because it is Russian?) by many websites and will cause headaches.

Good rule of thumb is, if you can get premium, it'll be better than most if not all free. I'm currently using Sophos premium because it's free through my university. Before Sophos, I had Avira which is free and I never had any problems with it. If I were in your situation I'd go with Kaspersky. Currently <$20 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Kaspersky-Anti-Virus-2016-Year-Card/dp/B011XO5556/ref=pd_sim_65_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=41BPttJttcL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=12VHA7YDMQWV1BRVMZ3K

best protection is voodooshield. It is free, and it is much better than any antivirus, because it works on the default/deny principle. Any antivirus leaves you vulnerable to zero-day malware, which is on the increase.
But even better than that is to learn when and where not to click. And only surf with a safe browser like edge or chrome or firefox, with latest updates. And disable auto-flash in your browser, just to be safe.

avira has very good definitions, but poor behavior blocking.
AVAST is light on the system, but is not top protection.
No AV can guarantee protection, because of the prevalence of zero-days, don't believe the AV testing companies. They are mainly for marketing purposes.
so if you want peace of mind, you either need to learn proper user habits, or use a default/deny setup such as voodooshield, and preferably you should do both.
