I'm only hearing music out of one ear on my beats. can someone help me?

I just got the beats solo 2 for christmas and music is only coming out of one ear. but if i press the middle button on the wire, they both work. how can i get it to stay like this.

Personally, i dont think beats are good at all but it might be the connection. Or it sometimes happens with me that ive got my two monitor speakers connected to my amp and the sound only comes out of one. Its either the connection or i just need to turn it up a bit until they both work?
