Hello,

I am writing here mostly because I am out of options. I have a Pioneer XV-DV340 which until 2-3 days ago worked perfectly. If I connect it to the TV with Scart, it amplifies the sound from the TV and works as it should. But if I put a DVD, I get no sound. After 5-6 mins and pressing all the buttons, the sounds works on the DVD too but if I connect it with optical to the tv, I get no sound at all. What could be the problem? The radio works too.

Thank you.

Ok I am going to be basing this answer on a couple of assumptions. Just for your info SCART is analog not digital, and based on what you wrote that is relevant. The optical cable you are using to the TV from the DVD will not send that digital audio out of the SCART analog only output, therefore when you are using the DVD and trying to hear the sound through the TVs SCART output you would get no sound. If you switch over the receiver to the DVDs input you would get sound. If you provide a complete list of your setup and equipment I will be happy to help you out...hope that helps!

First of all, thank you for the answer. But I don't think I explained very well what's the problem. I used this system for some good 3-4 years connected to a Samsung TV through optical cable. There was also a Daewoo dvd player used for karaoke connected to the Pioneer through RCA cables. At that time worked perfectly. I didn't use it for some time, and a week ago when I wanted to use it on the same TV, it just didn't work. I thought that maybe the optical cable broke or something, so I inserted a DVD, connected the TV with Pioneer through Scart(I knew that it's analog :) ) and switched to DVD mode(it was used on Line 2 on optical out, and I also pulled the optical cable out when I used the Scart). It didn't worked on DVD mode either, so I took it to repair. That guy said that it's something from the settings, because the system works perfectly on radio mode and on TV mode(connected through Scart to the TV and hearing the sound from TV through the system's speakers), but he didn't knew how to repair it because he doesn't know english(I'm from Romania). So I took it home, and I thought that maybe if I hook the system to another TV, maybe it will work(I just got a Philips Android TV). Right now the system is connected to the TV by a cable that has 2 RCA jacks and a 3.5mm jack which I put into the TV's headphone out because it's the only way it works. Through Scart doesn't work because the TV doesn't give sound through Scart(wow.... 2015 "smart tv"). I tried putting a DVD into the system again and connected it to the TV through Scart....again. But this time after I pressed some buttons on the remote of the system and tried to change some settings, I got it to actually work on the DVD mode. After I saw that, I connected the optical cable and switched to Line 2, but it still didn't work. When I changed back to DVD, it stopped working again. I want to know if it is a hardware problem and I should get a receiver for the speakers or it may be a problem from the settings. Sorry for this long post...
