Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any feedback on this, I'm at my wit's end; google has failed me.

ASUS ROG G750JM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
Driver version: 361.43
CPU: Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.5GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 8.1

It has been shown that my monitor is 1920x1080

Must be a software problem. Ideas, anybody? :(

As far as I can tell, ASUS did not ship any units with 1600x900 as the maximum resolution on this model. Everything I've turned up from the internet is 1920x1080. My laptop will only go up to 1600x900 and I have tried a few utilities and such to implement the 1080 resolution, but nothing works.

I'm allowed to set any absurd resolution I want on my external monitor but the native laptop display will not go above 1600x900.

I can't find anything that will work to force a custom resolution, but I'm sure I just haven't looked the right place. I suppose it's also possible that I got screwed somehow and only have a 1600x900 resolution monitor (not the worst thing in the world, that would be fine) but like I said, the internet seems to indicate that's not the case.

Thanks for the help, all.

Edit: Additional Info.

Unable to change display resolution from the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Here is my regular Screen Resolution change menu, with the pop-out.
This does not change when I disconnect the other monitor, restart PC, etc.

Hi,

Have you tried adjusting the resolution of your laptop using NVIDIA Control Panel?
- Right click on your desktop screen without hitting any icons and click on NVIDIA Control Panel.
- On the left pane under Display click on Change resolution.
- Select the resolution 1920x1080 then click Apply.

If that doesn't work try updating your graphics card driver first then try adjusting it again.

Editing original post with this information.

@ffg7 and @1shado1 thanks for confirming for me, makes me feel a little better.

Additional question for everyone, is it possible to check somewhere on my hardware the screen resolution without ripping the thing apart?
