My laptop (Yoga 2 Pro) takes random time to boot up to the "Lenovo" screen, it takes more than 2 minutes. From a cold start it take more than 8 minutes.

It's not an issue with Windows OS because I have refreshed and reset the OS plenty of times but issue still exists.

I have also tried taking out the CMOS battery for a while but no success.
I have taken out the battery of the laptop and hold the power button for 30+ seconds but issue still exist.

I have done a Windows Memory Diagnostic test and no errors show up.

I have the latest BIOS too. Tried setting load defaults in BIOS, but no success.

The issue also occurs when booting into safe mode.

Steps the issue occur:
1. Press power button.
2. The back-lit keyboard lights up for 1&2 seconds (Before the issue, it would light up for less than a second.
3. Nothing comes up on the screen (Just a black screen).
****I can use the Fn and Space bar to turn on and off the back lit keyboard. The Caps Lock, however, has a tiny hole that doesn't light up when pressed but works after Windows load.*****
****During the black screen, the fans are also working*******
4. Have to wait for several minutes until the "Lenovo" screen flashes and after that everything is blazing fast.

I think the issue is something in the laptop needs to be heated to a warm temperate until it can boot and load something on the screen.

I plan on trying to connect the laptop to my TV via mini-HDMI to see if anything occurs before the "Lenovo" screen splashes.

After I login to Windows everything works great, no issues at all.

Any ideas guys?

Solution
YESSSS! I have finally, after 2 months of pulling my hair, found the solution.

It was indeed a problem with the BIOS.
Solution:
Upgrade or downgrade your BIOS version.

Since I was running the latest version for my Y2P (76cn43ww) already, I had to downgrade to a previous one. So I looked and looked and finally found one.

Grab the previous BIOS for Yoga 2 Pro ONLY! : https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Request-Lenovo-Yoga-2-Pro-76cn31ww-Whitelist-Removal
***Click the BIOS download link*****
Now, before you can flash the downloaded BIOS, you must go into current BIOS setting and enable BIOS downgrade or something similar so you can flash previous version.
After you have done that, go and flash ahead. Let computer do its job for...

if you think it is a temperature related problem try this.
1: time how long it takes to load into windows at present temperature.
2: cool down laptop by leaving in refrigerator for 1/2hr or so then time how long it takes to load windows.
3: warm up the laptop by leaving it on a heat register if you have forced air heat or use a hair dryer not a heat gun for 1/2hr or so then time how long it takes to load windows.

I took out my laptop from the refrigerator after 30 minutes. The first boot up process from pressing the power button to the Lenovo splash screen took 11 seconds. However, after shutting down the laptop and timing again the time from pressing power button to Lenovo splash screen, it took 10 Minutes 27 seconds.

The time from Lenovo screen to windows is same and fast as usual.

I guess it's not a temperature issue then?

Do you think downgrading the BIOS to a previous one and upgrading again to the current one help?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I have done the following.

I took out the SSD and battery. Then plugged in the AC power adapter and this turned the laptop on automatically. However, I had to wait several minutes to get a blue warning message box regarding the lack of a hard drive.

Laptop originally shipped with Windows 8. Then 8.1 and then upgraded to windows 10 pro. The issue occurred only about a month or two ago. I have done a factory reset to windows 8 before, the issue also occurred.

***In my case, after flashing the previous BIOS and finish downgrading, my PC turned off. I waited a few minutes before pressing the power and BOOM! The lenovo screen flashed instantly. Everything now works fine.
I then went to flash the latest BIOS and that too went well.

Now my BIOS boot within 1.8 seconds. YIPPPE.
