Hi,

Everytime I try to boot up it brings me straight to the boot menu. I choose my hdd and it then proceeds to go to a black screen and then after about 30 seconds returns to the boot menu.

It seems like, from the boot menu, I can access bios setup, diagnostic splash screen, and lenovo diagnostics.

I can't for the life of me figure it out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Solution
50\50 chance. just finished doing that on a 750gig drive full of bad sectors. took almost a week to get most but not all her data.
Hi,

Start by going into BIOS then press F9 to set up defaults. Boot the laptop once BIOS has been set to default. If it doesn't boot up load BIOS again then check if your HDD is being detected and is set as the first boot device. If it doesn't work, you may need to run a factory reset using a Lenovo System Recovery disc for your operating system. If your laptop will not detect the HDD you may need to open it and make sure that everything is seated properly specially the HDD and again if all these will not work the HDD might be damaged already.

It is being detected. I just ran the Lenovo Quick Storage Device Test, and the HDD failed on every single test it performed. So I'm thinking the HDD is toast. Is it still possible to get the data off it?
