How can I turn on my toshiba television so I can reprogram my universal remote? The power buttons broke. The remote used to work on the t.v. but n the process of moving the batteries got lost. The power buttons broke. Without the t.v. on I can't program my remote. PLEASE HELP!!!

I can't actually find that model of Toshiba TV but... Do you know anyone with a relatively recent Samsung smartphone? Or any other phone with an IR blaster? There's an app called Peel Remote Control. It's as simple as pointing it your TV, telling it what make it is, and then pressing a button. The beauty of it, in this situation in particular, is that it wants the TV to be switched off while it tries to find it, and the only button you need to press on the phone is the TV power button. If the app has found your TV, then it will switch on, if not, then it will ask to try again. Had to solve this exact problem with an LG TV, and didn't want to pay a fortune for a new remote control.
