i cannot install win 7 on my laptop, if i try to install it from the disk it won't auto run, if you try to run it from within windows xp it gets part of the way then says it cant recognise the hard drive, has anyone got any ideas ? or shall i chuck it out of the window. note i have tried it on a new drive, nothing. i have installed it on my desktop no problem, i have installed xp & linux on the laptop no problem.any ideas !!!!

It won't directly upgrade from XP to 7 without problems. You don't need to "autorun" You need to boot to the disk and do a clean install. Of course, backup your stuff from XP first.
