Recently I have been doing a spring cleaning of a laptop I have that I'm only using for working purposes. While doing some cleaning I spotted a folder for Hotspot shield, a program that I have no idea how it got there. There's nothing on the Uninstall Program of the Control Panel, I even installed an uninstaller but it didn't found it. Somehow it has a process running and the antivirus doesn't detects it as such.

I want to find a way to uninstall this ghost program, any suggestions?

Sorry for the extremely late answer. I disabled the service, deleted the folder, cleaned the registry and all but somehow the program I was trying to install (Connectify) still detected Hotspot. So in order to clean it completely I download and "updated" Hotspot again and then used an uninstaller. The service wasn't present anymore so I deleted the folder and cleaned the remaining registry from my pc. Now it is completely gone.

It is a VPN application. Close the service in Task Manager, delete the folder, and clean your registry with an application like CCleaner. That is what I would try,at this point. Restart and see if it is gone.

Get CCleaner at: www.piriform.com/ccleaner

The free version will suffice for the vast majority of users. Good luck!
