Hi there,
I recently purchased a Asus K501LX notebook. I am very happy about its performance, the only thing I am not happy about is the fan noise.
The fan starts whirring every now and then for about 10 seconds, then stops, and then starts whirring again. The laptop is not even under heavy CPU load, just simply by editing a word document, watching a Youtube video, or even when Idle it starts whirring.
I have read alot of complaints about this on this particular type of laptop, and ASUS as always refuses to do a damn thing about it. I have talked to their live support, talked to the Dutch supplier of my notebook and at last sent an e-mail to ASUS.
Who else is having this same problem? And how did you fix it? Did anyone see if there actually was enough thermal paste on the CPU? I'm still thinking about that one but am not planning on removing the cooling element.
I do know that there is a way to kind of fix this, by putting it into energy saving mode.. but that should reduce power.. doesn't seem like a solution for a €800 laptop
Any help is appreciated!
