TV and internet cable confusion

I have just moved house and in the lounge there are two cables coming into the room. One is very short and is directly under a Virgin media white box on the wall. The two cable ends are the same, so I assume both internet? I'm a complete tech/electric novice, and don't understand how I'm supposed to hook the TV up if there are just two internet wires.

If your internet and TV are delivered over the Cable TV network, then they use the same type of connector and are both connected to the same thing. Doesn't matter which goes to your TV and which to your modem.

Should be a fat round cable, with a pin in the middle and a hexagonal nut.

It seems that when you sign up for Virgin media they will either send out a technician to set you up or send you a Quickstart pack with instructions if you choose to DIY.. That box seem to be their super hub that connects the TV to their network. If it has an HDMI output then that would connect to your TV.
