I'm unable to find an output option pn my Acer when I right clicked on my desktop once i did these were the opitions i could pick Graphics Properties, it comes up with the option of display, 3D, options and support, video, power or profiles. i had a quick look at them but don't see an output option anywhere. My Acer pc is currently connected to my tv(Emerson) using the hdmi cord. Please help me get it going.

In Graphics Properties click on Display. In the general settings under select display if you click the drop down menu, it should give you a list of available displays. If you don't see your TV on the list its possible your HDMI cable is no good. If you do see it there, in the left hand menus, click on multiple displays and choose how you want to output your laptop via Single Display, Cloned, Extended.
