The keys on my Toshiba Kira have melted. Is this safe. The machine is still under warranty, but I want a replacement with a model that will not melt in future rather than the keys being replaced and melting again. I suspect this is bad for my health

Solution
If a laptop is becoming hot enough for the keys to begin physically melting the laptop would be a fire hazard and the thermal shutdown should have occurred. However because this is not the case it is extremely important that you send pictures and even possibly the laptop to Toshiba where they can find the cause of the malfunction. (They will probably do a product recall)

well its not safe if it gives off fumes or you get molten keys in your mouth or nose. other than that it will be mainly messy. im more intrigued with how the keys could've molten in the first place, thats horrible design. the best way to find out is to ask what they will repair, if they dont use higher grade keys that cant melt or fix the heat problem you might consider getting your money back because thats simply a broke product.
