So, I have a 500 WD Blue 2.5'' HDD how just freezes when in the laptop.

It wont boot, it comes to the boot screen (like you know for MOBO's screen "Press" this and that for this and that)

When I took it out and connected it to my pc, S.M.A.R.T. showed the drives status is "BAD"... ok.

I still got into windows and the drive was working normally. I performed a format using CMD, the drive was normal, could have used it as an extarnal or primary one.

But when I put it in the laptop, still the same story.

So what would be the cause of this? I'll be trying removing the BIOS battery for 10-15 min and putting it back in, hoping it will work...

Solution
If it was an old Windows drive it may still have a boot partition. Please use diskmgmt.msc(start + R and type or paste diskmgmt.msc) to check.

Also a drive that is failing smart may loose data.

Can please please list the parameters that have tripped. If it is reallocated or pending sector, I would not trust that drive to anything without constant backups.

Hey there, inSAYAN!

I'm really sorry to hear about your issues with the WD Blue 2.5" HDD! :( Unfortunately, just as @nukemaster mentioned, if the SMART status shows that the drive is bad, then it's very likely that you'd lose the data stored on it. I'd strongly recommend you to back the data up somewhere else ASAP.
I'd also advise you to run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows and check which SMART attributes are failing.
Here's a link to the WD Software: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ICx0Zp

I'd also advise you to check the warranty status of your WD Blue drive here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=12edyF
If it's still covered, you should be able to send an RMA request to our customer support and get a replacement.
