Quick note: I am looking for a gaming LAPTOP! I already have a gaming pc so PLEASE no posts suggesting I build a pc.

Now that that is out of the way. Can someone tell me which laptop would be better for gaming?

Both have 950M gpu but one has 2GB and the other has 4GB of GDDR.

Also another difference is that one has a i7 while the other has an i5.

Which would be better for gaming?
Would the i5 bottleneck me in preformance in games or in multitasking (Chrome with lots of tabs, skype, Microsoft Office)

I would go with the acer as although the asus has a better cpu it will cause the laptop to overheat due to its size and weight. Also the x series is not designed for gaming which means that although it has gaming components it will not last as long as an asus rog series laptop.

Where as the acer has an ulv chip which is weaker but will not overheat. The only thing with that laptop is that you have to turn the always on option is the bios for it to be quiet during normal use.

I had the i7 X550CA which I removed the optical drive and I fitted an SSD in its place with an adapter. The laptop is capable of having 2 drives but battery performance was reduced. (HDD & SSD combo) If you wanted to keep the optical drive on the other hand, the original drive is easily replaced with another drive of your choice, and there is only a small cover to remove.
