I have an old IBM THinkpad where the BIOS CMOS battery has been dead for years. I always started up by resetting the Error 127. I alwaqys could reset the CMOS configuration by going to COnfiguration, pressing CNTRL plus D and changing ONE unit in the configuration table ..
now, nothing works, every time I reset the BIOS, with the laptop still plugged in, the BIOS configuration changes all over the place, with MANY different settings... so I need the correct BIOS configuration table settings now .. please does, anyone have these >?>??
thanks!
Lawrence

This one is a |THinkPad 600Evc.. quite old.
I used to repair the bad BIOS configuration by going to the left column name ""20"" and changing the zero 2 in that first left coloumn to an A2 .. always worked .. now, after I save this, (as I ualways did before) the BIOS still gets altered in several places after I re/start .. even though the power cord was plugged in so that it would not loose power ..
But maybe there is no help to do here,, the only solution is to erase the HD and re install XP .. which I can not do since I have no installation CD for this ... Boo Hoo ..!!
unless someone knows how to fix this BIOS problem .. remmeber, the CMOS battery has been dead for 2 years, and I always corrected the Error 127 this way before ,.,. now, this method is not working !

No .. never had to do that, which is quite a tricky process on these old machines ,,. so I always corrected the BIOS configuration as I described earlier .. but now, this method does not help since the BIOS keeps changing even after I save it with the power cord plugged in to keep the memory alive ...
