I have a Eurocom (http://www.eurocom.com/ec/specs(339)ec) with a Notebook P65_P67RGRERA mainboard, i76820hk, 4 slots (no idea if thats dual or quad channel), with 2 micron 8gb ddr4-2133. My question is if I should purchase one of these kits: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232150 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232156 and see if they will work with my existing ram for a total of 48gb, or if i should just purchase a 32gb set like one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232161 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232167 that might run at a higher speed (2400/2666 instead of 2133) and possibly quad channel? but no chance at 48gb

I don't believe there would be a significant performance difference. The biggest difference is that if you get 2x16GB now, you may not be able to get 2x16GB that will play nicely with the existing RAM in the future and end up buying a matched set of 4x16GB.

thank you for your response. would the 4 x 8gb be noticeably better performance wise then the 2 x 16gb? I will most likely be upgrading to 64gb in the future as I use the laptop heavily, I have been completely maxing out my old 16gb laptop... I just really dont feel like dropping 500 on ram right now when im guessing it will be quite a bit cheaper in a year or so?

Ok so basically Im probably better off spending more now on the 64gb set then buying a 16x2 32gb now and possibly running into problems later and having to buy the 64gb anyway? I found a nice article on ram here and it appears that ddr4-2400 with a cas latency of 16 would actually be slightly faster then 2666 with a cas latency of 18 please correct me if im wrong. I highly doubt the difference would be noticeable but since the 2400 is cheaper it seems like a no brain er?

Yeah, I don't believe the delta would be noticeable in real world applications.
