Hello! I have been having some difficulties with my Dell Inspiron M5030. The screen broke a while back, and I finally got around to getting an HDMI cord + VGA to HDMI adaptor for it since the laptop doesn't have an HDMI port.
I tested my laptop on the family computer with a VGA cord (since the desktop also had the VGA port) and it worked fine. My mom got a new LG phone recently and it came with an LG HDTV (model code: 24LB451B).

I connected the adaptor and the HDMI cord to the TV and the laptop. I chose the HDMI setting on the TV but all it says is No Signal. I tried the other settings as well just in case (Component and AV) but these settings also didn't work. While doing this I had already pressed the F1 key to activate the dual display but to no avail.

Thanks for any and all help/suggestions!

Usually on laptops, the keys at the top of the keyboard will have some light blue (or sometimes other colors) icons, which only work when pressed in conjunction with the "function" (fn) key. One of these key combinations should tell the computer to send the display output to the HDMI port... the icon usually looks like a couple of monitors, maybe with an arrow between them. Give that a try.
