So Frustratred! Trying to get TV sound to connect to Home Theatre System

Philips 50PFL3908/F7 Smart TV. Trying to connect to an older (10 yrs) Sony DVD Home Theatre System. Tried connecting with Component Video Jacks. Also Tried HDMI connection using the proper HDMI cord. Have connected Audio Out on TV to Video 2(Audio In) on DVD. Playing DVDs works. Playing FM radio works. TV doesn't work. Turned off TV speakers in TV set-up menu. Nothing.

Check the audio output menu of the TV and try changing the output type.
Your TV has coax digital audio out and headphone out. Does the Sony have an audio only input? The Video 2 input might need a picture to get it to work.
If you are using an analog input on the Sony you will need a DAC to convert the TV digital out to analog or to use the TV headphone out.
