Yeah, but it did detect some other drivers that needed updating, so I at least got something out of it! So two possibilities just occurred to me:
1. The "Cyberlink Youcam" bloatware that came installed with my computer may have been bundled with my camera's drivers. I tried re-downloading it from HP's website, but when it was finished it didn't detect the camera. So that's probably not it, but it was worth mentioning.
or
2. The camera became disconnected from the computer itself. One of the commentators on "http
/h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/tips-for-when-your-webcam-is-not-detected/td-p/1988517" said that this is a common problem on HP notebooks, and could explain why none of my software is detecting the damn thing. If this is the case, that means I'm gonna have to pop of the back of the monitor and reattach it.
*UPDATE* Okay, I checked to see if the camera was still internally connected, and it appeared to be fine. So I've officially run out of ideas.
