All of the sudden I am having trouble with my laptop charging. As of right now it will only charge to 37%. The battery icon says 'Plugged in, Charging" , however it doesn't go any higher. When I first connect the adapter the battery bar moves up and down a few times, then stays still. The LED light is lit up on the charger as well as on my laptop. I had installed a bunch of windows 7 updates before noticing this problem. Could it be some sort of software issue? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in resolving the issue.
- Start by going to Device Manager and uninstall "microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery driver".
- Reboot your laptop and it should reinstall that driver automatically. After the reboot test weather if the charger will work normally.
- Next is to test the AC adapter using a multi meter to check if it's supplying enough voltage to charge or power the laptop. Another way to determine if it's the charger as well is to try another AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if it would charge normally because if it will not it's the battery that has the problem and replacing them would be the only solution.

Thanks for your reply Laptop_Nerd..
I have tried the microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery driver solution several times. It just makes the charging bar move for 20-30 seconds then back to standing still "Plugged in, Charging". Still won't charge beyond 37 percent. I don't have a multi-meter to test the adapter voltage but I just tried a universal charger I have. Same issues. I installed HW Monitor and it says the current Battery Voltage is 11.470 and the wear level is 16.8 %. Shouldn't my battery at least be able to make it to 82%? It seems to charge fine until it gets to 37%, then it's stuck there. Is there anything else you can think of? If not guess I'm going to have to shell out for a new battery.
