Hello, I was thinking of picking up a good headset for Xmas-http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015ZKJIYI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER-.

I was wondering if these will work on my motherboard onboard sound http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4602&dl=1#ov

I've been reading reviews and some say this headset of 150ohm need a good sound card. I have no idea what this means. Should I pick up a dedicated sound card like the $40 ASUS XONAR DG with built-in Headphone Amp?

Are these headset and sound card good combo or maybe pick up an external dac/amp?TY

I think it's a great combo soundwise, but did you get the mic working on Xonar card? I can only get it working with on-board audio. I've checked the Microphone over the Front mic on the driver settings. I just can't get it to work. I use Xonar for the headphone part and onboard audio for mic. Any one having similiar issues?

Did you use the offical Xonar drivers? I use these, they are always up to date and MUCH better. My Mic works great, loud and clear.

I have the headset hooked up to the back of my card, and my speakers to front panel of my case. I do this because of desk configuration. Give this a try . You should disable onboard sound as well if you haven't. When you install the UniDrivers, open up Xonare DG and click Analog out, use Headphones. Then Mixer, than Mic config button, center section on left side. Than click Microphone. Let me know if it works.
