Lenovo ideapad y410p
Nvidia GeForce GT 755m
So I bought this laptop about a year ago, and never once updated the Nvidia drivers. Then about a month ago, I decided to update the drivers using Geforce Experience in anticipation for the newer games coming out this year. This caused random BSODs that occurred infrequently (about once every one or two days) because apparently Lenovo computers cannot run general Nvidia drivers and instead use their own version which I can find on the Lenovo website.
After learning this, I decided to reinstall the most recent Lenovo supported Nvidia drivers today. I used DDU to completely remove all traces of Nvidia drivers, and downloaded the new drivers from the Lenovo website. I was prompted to restart after the installation, and I did, but after that my laptop would not turn on. I would get the Lenovo loading screen, but after that, only a blinking black screen (couldn't even get to login). I force shut down the laptop by holding down the power button multiple times to bring up automatic safemode startup, and I was able to login through safemode. I went to device manager, and uninstalled Nvidia GeForce GT 755m (rollback was grayed out). After this, I restarted computer and it ran normally again, but instead of Nvidia GeForce GT 755m under display adapters, I have "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" with this following error message:
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
At this point... I just want to have the old Nvidia driver version that first came with my laptop since I had absolutely 0 problems with that, but I have no system restore points going back that far, and I don't remember the specific version #. Is there anyway to get that driver version back? Or get the most recent Lenovo driver version working? Thanks and sorry for the long post.
Also probably a stupid question, but.... is my laptop supposed to feel like it's running more slow and sluggish without that Nvidia GPU? I'm on intel integrated graphics now since the Nvidia GPU drivers are all gone.
