I have an Acert travel/mate TM8172T-4758 and it shut down as I was working and now seems to have no power - I removed the battery and tried the power cord but it does not seem to have a spark of life. Has been used very little.

Hi,

Do a hard reset first, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Plug just the AC adapter then try to boot the laptop and see if it will. If it doesn't boot up you may need to reseat the RAM first, take them off for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure that they are seated properly. If it doesn't work try another AC adapter first just to determine that it's not just with the charger because if it will not work after trying another charger you'll need to contact ACER support for a repair if it's still under the factory warranty.
