ASUS G73 JH...."No connections available"

A few days ago I updated my drivers using DriverBooster as my mouse had stopped working.

Before installing the new drivers, I tried to set a restore point, but Restore isn't working, and I didn't know I could/should backup my drivers first via DriverBooster.

Now the mouse works, but the G73 can't connect to my wireless network, and doesn't detect any other networks, though my other computers
detect several networks including mine.

In Device Manager, Network adapters, there is an:
Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
and an Intel Centrino Wimax 6250.

Under properties, both are "working properly".....I tried disabling/enabling
and also under Power management, choose not allowing computer to
turn them off.....re-booted computer & router......no change.

Why are there 2 adapters?
Should I re-place one or both?

Thanks for any help! :)

re: Try reinstalling drivers.....

I checked the device drivers.....Windows says they are the latest and the devices are working properly.

But as you suggested, I searched for the drivers for each device, downloaded and reinstalled......rebooted......still no networks detected.

Maybe it's the adapter(s?) instead of the drivers?

BTW, are there 2 physical wireless adapters in the ASUS G73 jh?

Later.....
IT"S WORKING!!! :bounce:

Here's what I did: I was telling my younger brother about it, and he suggested UNINSTALLING the
adapters.

What the heck, worth a try. I uninstalled the Atheros, and it disappeared from the Device Manager! :??:

BUT, when I went to the top of the Device Manager > Action > Scan for Hardware Changes,
it automatically re-installed the adapter and driver.....COOL! At least for the Atheros 8131,
but the Centrino WiMax 62509 driver wouldn't install (code 10?).

So I uninstalled it, etc......still wouldn't install the driver. So I un-installed again, AND uninstalled the
other instance of it as a Network Controller.

Then ran the Scan for Hardware Changes again, and now it shows (click here) 3 items under Network Adapters! =O
"Whaaaaaaaa?????"

I don't have a clue why there are now three adapter (real or virtual), but, bottom line, it works great now!!! :)

So am not going to mess with it any farther unless it stops working. ;)

Thanks for the help.

But looks like there's still problems.....got a blue screen dump, then went around & around re-booting,
getting a check disk that stalled over & over, couldn't get into Safe Mode with or without networking,
then finally got it to load.

But at least it connects wirelessly! LOL!

Great avatar, BTW! I can relate. =)

"BSOD"....aha, Blue Screen of Death (had to search for it ;)
Well, it's been coming on for a while.....I had to clone the original HD (using EZMigration), and
am getting multiple annoying problems....e.g. can't set a Restore Point.

Right now I'm downloading the Win7 iso from [Commercial link removed] to re-install Win7.

It includes a Data Recovery tool, and latest drivers for ASUS G73jh for $23.47 US (15.46 GBP).
I'm hoping this will do the job. Impressive amount of info on the site, and many model specific
downloads.

I saw another thread about using F9 when booting, but it didn't work
for me, and I'm afraid to shut down or re-boot since it was so difficult to get Windows to load.

Thankfully, all my data is on external hd's or partitions.

BTW, Restore.Solutions has a fast server......~1.3mb/sec, and offers
a [Commercial link removed] as the files are ~5gb.

So far, so good. ;)

re: Commercial links removed.......SORRY! Thought it was helpful,
but realize now it was wrong......won't do it again.
