I got an MSI laptop 2months ago and it seems that the fan shaft is broken or smth like that so now the fan is making a lot of Noise. I want to change it on my own and not use the warranty cos it would take 1 month for my pc to fix.

My question is what fan fits to my laptop? The service company told me information like that is confidential and he is not allowed to tell me. I searched online but couldnt find anything. The laptop is an MSI GE 72 2qf

Feel free to share any ideas about fixing the fan as well.

Any help will be appreciated

Personally I would send it to the support and use the warranty. If you open it yourself you lose the warranty and imagine in several months something more major dies? Then you will have lost your whole laptop for 1 month without it. Other than that you won't find anything on the net about the fan. You will have to open it yourself, find out where the problem is and if it is really then fan take it out and check the serial number or go to a pc store and show them the fan.

Laptop fans tend to be proprietary/not generic. You need to find a fan that is advertised specifically for fitting your model. Did you already check with verified MSI etailers? (They likely don't have proprietary parts, but it's worth a shot.) Or perhaps eBay?

If the noise is per a bearing, you can use a lubricant on it and it may reduce, or even eliminate, the noise. Try to use something high grade, though; WD-40 might work, but usually only temporarily.

Sometimes. MSI is relatively lenient about this. At the very least, it's put at risk.

But I do agree that if you can spare time apart from the laptop, you should send it to MSI. Even if you need to pay for shipping to them, it's safer this way.
