Asus vs Dell

Solution
All should be good, I'd lean to the Asus ROG, slightly better CPU and GPU, equal DRAM and the ROG laptops are tuned a little better towards performance
The Dell does have a 6th generation Skylake quad core i5-6300HQ CPU. But there is not a dramatic performance increase compared to the 4th gen i7-4720HQ from an architectural design point of view. Assuming same clock speeds, the difference in performance between Skylake and Haswell is probably around 6%.

However, the i7-4720HQ has higher clock speeds which offsets the design performance of Skylake CPUs and it also has Hyper Threading (HT). HT may be useful to you or maybe it will not be useful, but the i7 has HT and the i5 does not. HT does not really have any benefit for games.

no, i mean like a 2.5in. slot and a m.2 slot like the dell.

Not as far as I can tell. The DVD drive definitely takes up space where a m.2 slot could be.

I too am considering the Dell Inspiron 7559, but i am thinking about buying it from Dell which will come with a 1TB hard drive. I would later replace it with a 1TB or 2TB SSD and use the 1TB HDD as an external drive. As well as installing a 512GB m.2 SSD.

But I am also considering the new Dell XPS 15 with the 1080p Infinity Display which basically means the thin bezel makes this laptop with a 15.6" screen about the same size as a 14" laptop and only weighs 4lbs.It has a i5-6300HQ CPU and GTX 960m, but it only has a 2.5" slot for a HDD / SSD and no m.2 slot. It also costs $400 more than the Inspiron 7559.

I am also leaning toward the dell for its portability because it is 0.9in. and the asus is 1.3in.

What about the i5 vs i7 model of the dell inspiron, also the touchscreen model.
Which one will you recommend?

I don't care for touchscreens nor 4k displays. Adds weight, drains battery faster and you need to deal with potential scaling issues.

Both the Core i5-6300HQ and i7-6700HQ are quad core CPUs, but the i7 has hyper threading (HT). Similar to desktop CPUs. HT does not really have any impact on games, maybe an extra 0 FPS - 3 FPS, but that's about it. That is why most people recommend a Core i5 CPU to people who wants to build a gaming laptop. Of course, if you know you are using programs that can take advantage of HT then the Core i7 would be the better choice.
