Weird volume issue between HDTV and Sony DH810 using ARC

After using my Sony DH810 home theater receiver for about 6 years, I'm having a weird problem and I can't pinpoint it. All of the sudden, my receiver is showing the input from the TV ARC HDMI as an analog signal and there is no volume at all. When I try to switch the receiver back to auto (digital) signal, it doesn't change. It's impossible for the signal coming through HDMI to be analog and has always worked before. Is this a receiver issue, a TV issue, or something else?

Solution
I finally found the fix. After scheduling warranty service, I received an automatic firmware update that fixed the problem. I believe they updated firmware a few weeks ago that must have broken the hdmi ARC function, then fixed it with a new patch. If you're having issues with your Vizio 4k P-series TV audio, that may be the culprit.

I have swapped cables, I have factory reset both the TV and receiver, and have made sure both have ARC on and the problem still exists. After resetting, the volume works for about 2 seconds and then the volume shuts off and the receiver shows "analog" on the display. This is mindnumbingly frustrating. I've been using this setup for 7 months with this TV and receiver combo and had no problems.
