toshiba satellite laptop does not start up

when i push the power button, its light turns on, but the monitor stays black. i see nothing at all. it stays like this forever. i tried another monitor, but it is still the same. i turn it on and off many times, no result.
it is a toshiba sattelite skullcandy. any help is appreciated.
 
Hi.

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First do a hard reset, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Plug just the AC adapter and power it on.
- Try another AC adapter which has the same voltage just to identify if it's the actual laptop or just the charger is faulty.
- If the laptop will boot up normally using a different charger you know what to replace then.
- But if it still doesn't boot up, last thing you want to do is to reseat the RAM, take them off the laptop for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure that they are seated properly.
- If all these steps doesn't work it's your motherboard that is faulty.
