Running audio from bluray to onkyo stereo receiver

I have a magnavox Telly which does have hdmi that I have connect the bluray player too. Now, I would like to run the audio for the bluray player through the the stereo receiver. But, I do not have hdmi on the receiver, it is an older receiver. How do I get the audio to play through the the receiver?

I have tried to hook it up with rca hook ups and no matter what channel I run it through I can't not get it to work. Please advise..

Can't find specs on your TV. If it has audio outs there are three possibilities. If it has headphone out or line level out you just need the correct stereo audio cable to connect ot the receiver. If the TV only has optical audio out you need a DAC like this one

and the cables to connect it.
If you TV doesn't have any audio outputs then you can use an HDMI audio extractor

connected between the BD and TV. This will only give you sound from the BD player. The other options will give you sound on anything played on or through the TV.

The tv has three AV hookups with RCA cables, plus the hdmi and SVideo. The bluray was ran through the receiver just fine, then I had to get a new player and I can recall how I had it ran. Bluray to tv works. The receiver has several channels; DVD, AV-1 and 2, phono, cd...

It worked before with out any additional equipment...Grrrrr!
