I have an HP-dv4-2142nr Entertainment notebook and the OS is windows 7 64 bit.

I know the little icon (top right corner) you push it and it turns orange for off and blue for on. I know it is working because I am on the internet however when I push the button I can see that it is orange when it is off and when I turn the internet on it is on only because I get the pop up lower right corner W/LAN on and the internet works. I just do not see the light at all come on, the blue light.

I was thinking maybe the bulb or whatever it is that makes it light up blue/orange was burned out however when I shut the key off I see the orange color light, light up.

So then I took it a step further and decided to reinstall the whole thing back to factory setting so I reinstalled everything back to manufacturer specifications, I installed all windows updates and I even looked in device manager and I can see the driver in there for wireless.

What am I missing? I mean it is not really a big deal because I am actually on the internet however it would be nice to also see the indicator light on.

Again if I see the icon light up orange when I turn it off and then when I turn it on and the internet works but do not see the same icon light up blue it cannot be a burnt bulb correct?

If the system works fine then don't worry about it. It's most likely that HP have used 2 separate LED's for the notification light and the blue one has died whilst the orange one remains functioning. That's the best guess that I can make. Hope this helps.
