So I was wondering what the hell has happened to my SD Card. I have a lot of photos and photoshop documents on it that I need to recover. My laptops SD Card Reader can not even detect the SD Card and my camera says there is an SD Card error. Please help me to get this data off!!!

Solution
If both the camera and laptop show errors, you probably have card failure. You can try to do a quick format (only erases the location of files, not the file data) and then recover the data with file recovery software (Sandisk Extreme and older Lexar high end cards come with a good recovery software, you can use recuva if you don't have it).

If the camera doesn't let you format though, you have irrecoverable card failure. Professional recovery services might be able to help, but prepare to pay >$1000.

Either way, you will need to replace the card and learn about using backup the hard way. You should always have at least two separate backups for important files.
