Here is an example of what it looks like:

This is not just Torchlight II specific, it affects pretty much everything with a semblance of 3D animation.

I'm running Windows 8.1 with an i5-5200U CPU and GeForce 840M GPU.
I tried setting it so that my computer defaults to using the GPU, but it does not seem to help.
My drivers are all up to date. I also tried what has been suggested in other threads like right clicking and selecting RUN WITH so-and-so, but I'm not getting the option to do that. Hell, I even tried disabling the integrated graphics, but no dice.

Other than that I have no clue what to try doing next.
Perhaps it has to do with acceleration?

I know it isn't, but considering that even Intel's HD could run that game with some consistency, I am shocked that a dedicated GPU is falling short in that category. Being able to run games is a plus, but not what I need a laptop for. I just want to make sure everything is alright with the laptop, which it isn't, either due to my mistake or someone else's.

Sorry, took a while to upload a picture because of horrible German internet.

I keep flipping through menus, resolution, display settings and googling, but I can't seem to find a way to switch the display to the GPU. IT seems the generic PnP Monitor and Intel HD Graphics 5500 are acting as one element?

Thank you for the help, everyone.
The store apologized, but they do not have any more devices of the same model available, so they are giving me my money back.
The only laptop I can find with almost identical specs is only marginally better but costs €70 more.

It's a shame, because I could've spent the extra money on a 120gb SSD, which would have helped me a lot better for the same price than the extra 5% performance this one will give, but I will try to find a more suitable one around the same price range.
