How to I open up my disc drive on my Dell laptop?

I can not find the button to open up the disc drive. I know that there is a disc drive because I can see the outline but I do not know how to open it.

Well if there's no button on the side where you see the outline then likely there's no drive.

Open up My Computer ("This PC" if you're using Windows 8/8.1/10) and if there's no DVD drive listed then you don't have a drive.

I'm assuming you are speaking about an optical drive. If you can't find the button, you can open the Computer window (assuming you are running windows) and right click on the optical drive and select eject.

You could also stick a paper clip into the hole in the front of the drive to eject it. (I guess if you can't find the button you wouldn't be able to see the tiny hole in the front of the drive.

A lot of laptops do not have an ODD. There may be the placeholder outline in the plastic, but no actual drive.
If there is no button on that panel, you have no drive.
