Hi, I have no issues playing videos with sound through any players on my HP Laptop (Media Player, VLC etc), however when I plug it in to my TV, the sound stops working through the media players, and on Media Player it then says it has encountered a problem and needs to close. The sound still works for all other sound on the computer, such as streaming through an internet page, will just not work when it's playing through the media players.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Have had a play around with setting etc. but have been unable to rectify the issue.

Thanks.

Hi,

First, check if HDMI Output is your default playback device when it's connected with your TV.
- Right click on the speaker icon on the bottom right hand corner and click on Playback Devices.
- To set HDMI Output as the default playback device just right click on it and select Set as Default.
- Then try to play any file again using Media Player and see if it will work.
- If that doesn't work do try to uninstall/reinstall your graphics card driver.

If all these doesn't work do try to uninstall/reinstall Media Player itself. Here's the link for the tutorial on how to do that.
