Weird situation after spilling coffee on laptop keyboard

So, I'm another one of these idiots that spill their coffee on their laptop (Acer 8930g ).
I managed to save the laptop, I shut it down immediately, soaked up the liquid, removed the keyboard and checked inside, the liquid didn't go anywhere but the keyboard. The computer is working just fine now without the keyboard connected.
The weird stuff happens when I connect the keyboard back to the motherboard. The keyboard doesn't work, not even in the beggining (like pressing F2 to enter BIOS). The laptop is slow to boot, takes ages in the windows loading screen, sometimes hangs completely. If it does boot, the keyboard doesn't work at all (any button) and also the touchpad and that acer touch volume control thing don't work (all these work fine without the keyboard connected).
I expected the keyboard to work with only a few buttons dead or sticking. Only thing I can imagine, it creates a short circuit or something like that and it screws up the controller for all the inputs?
I just don't want to buy a new keyboard and find out I was doing something else wrong, like I need to reinstall something.

Hi,

You mentioned that all these weird stuff doesn't happen if the keyboard is not connected to the laptop. It's a clear indication that the keyboard is already damaged and needs replacement. If you continue on using that keyboard that is already broken due to the spill it could just make things worst for your laptop and might require more time and money to fix it rather than replacing the keyboard now since it's plug and play you'll just connect it to the laptop and you should be good to go. :)
