Laptop fan keeps revving up and down periodically, almost like clockwork

Laptop model is G750JZ, Win10, all stock. I've been noticing that the fan keeps revving up and down periodically, almost like a clockwork. Not sure if it is because of some software in the PC that periodically stresses the CPU. I've turned on the external after-market cooler, but it still happens. How can I diagnose the problem short of formatting the PC?

Please let me know if you need more info.

Hi,

Do test the laptop first in BIOS if the same problem will persist because if it does still happen that means it could be the fans itself that has the issue. Open the laptop and make sure there's no dust stopping the fans from spinning freely also while it's open do apply a new thermal paste onto the GPU and CPU. After all these do observe if the same problem will persist.
