I got this machine from a friend 2 months ago and installed Windows 10 on it clean. Sometimes when I try to shut down the laptop, specially after long periods of Sleep mode or just AFK, the laptop won't shut down.

I give the command to shut down, it shows that it's shutting down but the lights on the status LED's (Power, Hard Drive, WiFi) are still on, the screen is off but when I try to start back on the laptop it doesn't do anything, I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds to get the computer to Force Shut Down and then press the power button again to start it back up.

It's very annoying having to to this every time I leave my laptop on while I sleep (listening to music, making upload ratios on torrents or downloading something) and then having to shut it down before I go to work only to come back and it's still on.

Hi,

Do try these troubleshooting steps that may help regarding that issue.
- First check if the power button is set to completely shut down the laptop.
- Right click on the battery icon and select Power Options.
- On the left pane you'll see "Choose what the power buttons do".
- Make sure that "When I press the power button" is set to Shut down then click on Save changes.
- Also disable the Fast startup located under Shutdown settings.
- Remove the check on Turn on fast startup same goes on Hibernate.
