Asus Z54L Laptop usb ports stoped working

Hi
I Have a Asus Z54L laptop and the USB ports just stopped working i did install the drivers and other versions as well to make sure. The thing is i can plug in my android phone it charges and i can access the data but if i plug in any flash drive the light on the flash drive blinks once and then nothing happens. I did test the flash drive on other machine it works so i am really in the dark here. i even did a full system format and still does not work even used drivers from drp with no luck. i am running windows 7 32bit. any advice?

Hi there Ninjazean,

Is the flash drive recognized by Device Manager and/or Disk Management?
As it is recognized on another system, then this is most probably a driver related issue. Have you updated your USB drivers? In case you haven't, you can do that. I believe you can find them on the laptop's manufacturer website.

I assume that you've tried attaching the flash drive to a different USB port on your laptop.

Like i said if i plug in the usb drive the light on the drive flashes once and then nothing happens there is no trace that i inserted the drive
under disk manager as well i did try the manufacturer driver with no luck there is no drivers missing on my system i even deleted the installed drivers and installed a driver from driver pack solution and still doing the same. i used a hiren boot cd to boot the windows 7 and tryed using the drive there and still no luck. the thing is if my phone was not working i would have said ok the usb port is broken but the phone works normally like it should can this be software related or can it be hardware maybe?

Just boot up Ubuntu and see whether your flash drive will be recognized: http

In case it is, then all of this may be driver related.
In case it is not, then it is most probably hardware related - either something wrong with the flash drive or the port itself.
