I have a Lenovo u410. I put a new Lcd in, and it was working well, until about half an hour later the computer instantly shut off. I figured I missed a low battery warning, so I plugged it in, and i got nothing. When I plug it in, the battery light turns on for a couple of seconds and then turns off. It used to blink in about one second intervals after that, but not today. I've figured out that the computer will turn on in if I press the power button before the battery light goes out, but it loads the Windows logo and says "preparing automatic repair" for a second before instantly shutting off again. Any ideas?

Hi,

First do a hard reset, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Plug just the AC adapter then try to boot the laptop, if it does load normally you can put the battery back in. If it doesn't boot up try and reseat the RAM, remove them all and put them back in after couple of seconds making sure that it's seated properly.

If the laptop boots up but with the error message, do run the Automatic Repair and wait until it finish the repair but if that doesn't work try to load the laptop into Safe Mode.
- When you see the Lenovo splash screen repeatedly tap on F8 until it boot to Advance Boot Option.
- Select Safe Mode and press Enter.
- Once in the desktop screen do disable all your startup items first in Task Manager.
- Reboot the laptop again and see if it will normally.

I tried what you suggested but with no luck. I did notice, though, that one of the sockets for a 4-pin connector that goes to my speakers seems to be damaged--specifically, I don't see the piece of metal that should be there to make the contact--could this be part of the issue? It seems unlikely, but I'd rather not think I killed my computer somehow. I was pretty careful working on it (and of the three things I've done with it, this would have to be by far the least likely to result in damage).
