Solution A A americanaudiophile Oct 22, 2015 If your cable box has standard rca av outputs along with the HDMI then connect those to the RCA inputs on the VCR. If it doesn't have these connections you would need an HDMI 1 to 2 distribution box (just a cable would not work) http/www.amazon.com/2-Port-2-out-Certified-Amplified-Splitter/dp/B0012N089W and an HDMI converter http/www.amazon.com/Etekcity%C2%AE-Composite-Video-Audio-Converter/dp/B008FO7PQA The timer in the vcr would work but would only record the channel you left the box tuned to. You would not be able to record the DVDs.
