I recently bought lenovo z40-75
This is the full specs
14" FHD
AMD A10-7300 APU
R6-M255DX 2gb
4gb ram(1*4GBDDRIIIL 1600)

Im confused with the ram , i have no idea if its SDram or SO-Dimm ram
I dont even know how many ram slots this laptop has
Im planning to buy Patriot SO-Dimm 8gb dual channel , so should i throw away the 4gigs from the laptop or should i keep it? Will it be 12gigs if i dont remove it?
But the real question is can i put SO-DIMM ram in my laptop?

Solution
The only laptops I've seen have more than 2 slots are high-powered i7 machines that support triple channel memory. I'm having a really hard time finding the exact specs of your machine online. One sure way to tell is to simply remove the panel on the bottom of the case and physically check with your own eyes.

I would rather trust cpu-z to read me memory information opposed to the Windows Task Manager....download it here

You MUST put SODIMM in your laptop. It stands for Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module. Small outline is a special form factor for laptops.

You laptop has 2 slots. It's considered best practice and is highly recommended that you install memory as a matched set. They are guaranteed to play nice together this way. You shouldn't throw away the one currently installed. You could always use it to troubleshoot another machine down the road. Just dont touch the connectors and keep it stored in an anti-static bag.

FYI- RAM isn't ever dual channel, it's a motherboard feature that is activated by populating a second bank. RAM kits are just labeled "dual channel"

Your laptop uses DDR3 SODIMMS. You only have 2 ram slots to use. If you buy that Patriot kit you will have to remove your current ram. A cheaper way would be to try and find another stick of ram the same or as close as possible to your current ram.
