Hi,
I have an Asus X55C with windows 8.1
I have also downloaded widows 10, but not installed it. Yesterday I was browsing quite a lot of tabs, when suddenly it crashed and sent me to Aptio Setup Utility. I have read some posts on these forums, in which people say you should: "Select the Boot menu in the Aptio setup utility, select 'Launch CSM' and change to enable".
But in my case the Launch CSM option is greyed out.:(
Perhaps this is unrelated, but i recently had my hard-drive changed. Could this be the cause?
Hopefully you guys can help me.

Solution
Hi,

Do try to reset BIOS to default first, turn it completely off and disconnect the AC adapter. Remove the CMOS battery for couple of seconds then put it back in, that should reset BIOS to default. Boot the laptop and see if it get's pass Aptio Setup (BIOS).

If that first troubleshooting step doesn't work, remove the HDD and boot the laptop and see if it get's pass the BIOS screen. If it does give you and error message on a black screen that means it's the HDD with it causing the problem.

Here are more troubleshooting steps that you may want to try as well.

I'm currently having the same issue, some say to turn off secure boot, but that option is grayed out, too. Then, others have said to reset to defaults; guess what? That's grayed out as well, and no other option that is useful is unlocked, either. Also, can someone explain what a HDD is? Since others explain about the HDD, and the AC adapter (which I know is the charger). Seriously, why did ASUS make it possible to screw up your computer for no reason?
