I really want a laptop that is good for college and can game.

I really would like it to be around the $1000 range, and an i7 needs to be in it.
What would be my best "bang for buck" in the laptop world?

Thanks in advance!

I recommend either:

  • ■ Asus ROG G751 Series G751JT-CH71 (refurbished) which has an Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50 GHz), 16 GB Memory, 1 TB HDD, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M 3 GB. It has a 17.3" screen and comes with Windows 8.1 64-Bit; it costs $1,250 USD (taxes/shipping non-inclusive).

    ■ Asus ROG GL551 Series GL551JW-DS71 (new) which has an Intel Core i7 4720HQ (2.60 GHz), 16 GB Memory, 1 TB HDD, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M 2 GB GDDR5. It has a 15.6" screen and comes with Windows 8.1 64-Bit; it costs $1000 USD (taxes/shipping non-inclusive).

Both laptops are fine for school and gaming, though they're a bit bulkier and heavier than, say, a Macbook Pro or an Asus Zenbook Pro.

May I suggest perhaps investigating a custom-built one? I got mine built from a site in the UK and haven't had a problem with it. I've had a quick look for US-based companies that specialise in custom built laptops and this site seemed ok:

That way you can really customise your laptop to the spec you want. For instance, the MSI ones feature the latest i7 chips, but the PowerPro have slightly better graphics chips within them. I'm sure there are many other websites out there with custom-built ones - as I say, this was the first one I found.
Hope this helps.
