Can't get my headset microphone to work with my computer.

I have recently built a computer within the last month or so. I have a Razer Tiamat 7.1 2012 headset that won't work with my computer. The computer acknowledges that both headphone part and the microphone part are plugged in, but the microphone part won't pick up my voice. Anyone know possibly how to fix this?

Solution
You need to go to the microphone settings (right click on the default sound icon in the task bar, then select "recording devices") and set that microphone as the default. While you are at the screen you might as well talk into the mic and see if the green bars are moving. If they are moving, setting it as default will mean it will work 100%
