I have a friend that had his laptop's display break recently and wants to get it replaced. The laptop's stock screen was a TN but the only ones he could find is IPS so I'm wondering, can he use IPS or will the laptop not diplay all the colours properly?

Laptop screens have a variety of small ribbon cable connectors to attach them, some are 30 pin, some are 40 pin, etc. The important part is that the connector is physically compatible, electrically compatible, and the laptop can send as much or more power than the screen requires. This would be much easier to answer if given the laptop model and the replacement screen information.
